MARKET SERVED
JA
of South Central PA covers six counties: Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, Perry, York, and the
western half of Dauphin County.
Our market includes 43 school districts and a public
enrollment of approximately 175,000 students.
PROGRAM REACH
JA of South Central PA reaches approximately
33,000
students per year in 1,600 classrooms.
Of these students,
25,500 experience JA's K-12 “in-class”
programs. These programs are taught by volunteers in the
classroom during the regular school day.
An
additional 7,300 students have the opportunity to
participate in JA's experiential learning laboratory, JA BizTown. This program consists of
21 in-class lessons of preparation taught by the teacher,
followed by
a full day of running a life-like city. Volunteers
participate in the city as Shop Mentors.
VOLUNTEERS
JA’s
1,200 classroom volunteers and the 1,000 JA BizTown
volunteers come from all walks of life and include
business people, college students, parents, and
retirees. These dedicated individuals are the backbone
of our organization.
PROVEN
SUCCESS
JA is one
of a few global non-profits to use independent,
third-party evaluators to gauge the impact of its
programs. Since 1993, independent evaluators have
conducted studies on JA’s effectiveness. Findings prove
that JA has a positive impact in a number of critical
areas. These results are available, for free, upon
request. Summaries of the findings also are published in
the JA Programs section of
www.ja.org.
