Business volunteers arrive about one hour
before students and go over a brief "Financial Advisor"
training. |
| |
Students begin with a brief intro to JA
Finance Park in the training center. They receive their
JA Finance Park student packet and cover an overview of the day. |
| |
Upon entering JA Finance Park, the students
are randomly assigned a Debit Card. The back of the
card contains their "life scenario". This is the
information they will need to use during the day.
It includes information on their job, marital status,
income, and education. |
| |
One of the first steps is to log-in.
They enter, their account, # pin #, and then
their name. |
| |
Working with their Financial Advisors begin
by completing their "Net Monthly Income" worksheet.
This calculation helps them determine how much they will have
available to spend each month. |
| |
Next they will begin calculating ranges of
expenses based on their NMI for 18 expense categories. |
| |
Financial Advisors assist the students in
the calculations and help answer questions along the way. |
| |
| |
Each student receives some stock from a
relative and are asked to calculate their investment portfolio
three times during the day. They review the
ticker board for this information. |
| |
| |
| |
Once a student has completed all of their
purchases they are ready to "check out". This
process reviews their information to make sure they have made
all of their payments and that they are within their budget. |
