Student citizens visit the various shops, and return to their own place of employment. A second pay period occurs after lunch, with additional breaks scheduled in each of the businesses. |

At the beginning of their JA BizTown day, employees are busy getting their shop ready to open. At the morning’s town meeting, the mayor-elect is inaugurated and officially named Mayor of JA BizTown. The Mayor gives a speech announcing that a Citizen of the Day and Quality Business award will be presented. Each shop CEO then makes a brief presentation that includes the shop’s name and location, the goods or services that are available, costs. Also where applicable, what goods are plentiful and which are available in limited quantities. The town meeting ends, and JA BizTown begins to hum with activity.

As the day goes on, the CEO's keep their fingers on the economic pulse of their business and the Town. Working with their CFO, each must assess their shop’s financial position. Are goods and services being sold at the projected pace? Will we be able to pay off our bank loan by closing? Who is late returning from break, and what are my employees doing? How do I deal with a disgruntled customer? How can I collect from the shop owner who keeps saying, “Come back later.”?

The day’s schedule includes regular group staff meetings. Workers review their progress against their business plan, and make adjustments in strategies as necessary. The parent volunteer assigned to each shop helps the children define their problems and successes, and to focus their problem-solving efforts.

At the bank, each shop CEO brings their loan application to the Bank and opens their business bank account. In the shops, students begin working on the goods and/or services they will sell for the day, with careful consideration to pricing. Sales representatives call on prospective clients. News reporters sniff out story leads, while the employees in all of the businesses start their jobs.

The volunteer works very closely with the CFO, assuring the proper posting of accounts. Parents consult and advise, but it is up to the students to carry out the day’s activities. The JA BizTown visit closes with End-of the- Day Town Meeting, and it is time to celebrate the successes of the day. Shops receive certificates for their hard work, and the Mayor announces the "Citizen of the Day" and "Quality Business of the Day" Awards.

|
| In all the shops, the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) begins entering payroll information for each shop, and prepares for the first payroll period. Raw materials are purchased, and shop signs are hung. |

Every aspect of a community is integrated into the day. From construction projects, to mail delivery from the post office, and utility meters that are read by the Utility Agent. Bank Loans are paid off, taxes are withheld, and every citizen is responsible for their own personal finances. The newspaper staff distributes the latest edition of the paper, and students prepare for their bus ride home. |

|
The first employee breaks are scheduled to begin right after the Opening Town Meeting, when employees receive their first paycheck. The first stop for the students is the bank, where they deposit their paycheck, keeping enough cash for planned purchases at the Restaurant, and open a savings account. Other than the Restaurant, all other shops accept checks. As the first wave of consumers washes through JA BizTown, the economy shifts into high gear as citizens eat lunch and shop...if they have time.
