JA Symposium:

     

The JA Symposium is a full day of learning activities focused on career exploration and self assessment. The objective is to help young women better visualize their goals and aspirations.
 

Local high schools are invited to nominate several young women to attend this day-long program.

The Symposium will serve 125 tenth and eleventh grade girls from York area high schools on March 7, 2012 and 125 tenth and eleventh grade girls from Harrisburg area high schools on March 9, 2012.

Sessions include:

p Exploring Educational Pathways

p Building a Budget

p Confidence Building Activities

p  Interviewing Skills

p Entrepreneurship

 

 

Other activities include:

p Keynote speaker, Harriet Turk, will present a special program entitled “Believe in yourself; believe in your power; believe in the value of life”.

p A fashion show will be held to give the girls examples of proper business attire and to demonstrate that they do not need to purchase all expensive clothing in order to look professional.  

p There will be opportunities for question and answer sessions throughout the day, as well as an informal lunch for the mentors to share personal and career experiences with the girls.
