Back to Basics
Vince Lombardi, the famous coach
of the Green Bay Packers, began every season the same way:
In the locker room at the beginning of first practice, he would hold a
football in the air and say “Gentlemen…this is a football”.
From that moment, they would spend the next weeks in practice working on
the fundamentals. Back to basics.
At JA, we too believe in the
fundamentals.We believe that every child
should have a chance to learn the importance of being financially responsible.
We do this with our first lessons in the kindergarten program, “Ourselves”.
In one of the lessons, “Megan Buys a Present”,
students learn about saving money and, as importantly, about earning
money. The fundamentals continue on
to 1st grade and throughout high school.
“On the day of the party, Megan was very excited.
Tracy loved her present.
Megan
felt happy. She had worked hard and saved
her money. Megan’s first sleepover
birthday party was a fun time!”
JA
programs included financial literacy lessons at every grade level.
